The Hallen family settled in 1835 in
what is now called Oro Medonte Township. Twelve year old Eleanora
Hallen kept a daily journal of life in Simcoe County during this time.
Many members of her family also kept journals and wrote letters. Using
these journals, and other research, the Friends of the Simcoe County
Museum created an activity booklet all about the Hallen Family's time as
early settlers in Simcoe County. Parts of this booklet are available
for you to download through the link below.
For a limited
time, Friends of the Simcoe County Museum are also making this booklet
available for free to Simcoe County students in the primary division,
with priority given to Grade 3 students. If you would like an activity
booklet mailed to you, please email museum@simcoe.ca
with your full name, grade, school, and mailing address including
postal code! Requests will be accepted until April 20, 2020, or until
supplies last. Thank you to the Friends of the Simcoe County Museum for
making these booklets available for Simcoe County students!
