Science and Technology, March 16
Calling all junior scientists! If you have a curious mind and a willingness to learn this is the day camp for you! Learn about the laws of motion, mechanics and perform your own experiments! Join our team of scientists for the day and explore the world of science and discovery!
St Patrick’s Day, March 17
Think you have the luck o’ the Irish with you? Well put that to the test at our St Patrick’s day camp! Learn an Irish jig, find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and create an Irish treat straight from the island. Let us Shamrock your world with all things Irish.
Mind over Matter, March 18
Explore the never ending possibilities of what can be done with the human mind at our Mind over Matter day camp day! Explore your senses, trick your brain with optical illusions and tease your mind with riddles and puzzles galore!
Environmental day, March 19
Come celebrate our incredible mother earth as we learn about the plants and animals that live in the world around us. Through hands on learning, crafts and challenges, discover new ways to do your part in preserving the place we all call home.
Back to the drawing board, March 20
Discover firsthand if you have what it takes to be a great inventor. Celebrate the achievements of inventors throughout history, create your own amazing inventions out of simple materials and get the chance to become a record holder in the prestigious Simcoe County Book of Museum Records!

Voyageur Nation
Are you hardworking, adventurous and love to sing? Then the Simcoe County needs you for this week-long voyageur adventure! Immerse yourself in the lives of the people who paddled the canoes and carried the goods that made the fur trade work. Work together with your teammates to build up a voyageur camp and compete against other teams in daily challenges. Each day, experience new snacks, activities and crafts drawn from voyageur life!
Wonder Emporium
Do you dream of making and testing your very own toys? Then the Simcoe County Museum’s Wonder Emporium is the perfect place for you! Join us for a week chalk-full of marvel and excitement as we make our own robots, playdough and sidewalk chalk and play real-life versions of classic games like Clue and billiards! Batteries not included.
Lights, Cameras, Action!
Step through the silver screen and right into some of your favorite films with our movie-themed day camp. Square up against a Creeper with Steve from Minecraft, have a battle of the bands against K-pop demons, find out what you’re doing in Shrek’s Swamp, fur-get about your troubles with critters from Zootopia and dive under the Sea with SpongeBob.

Unplugged, April 24
Who needs technology to have a good time! In this day and age of screens and internet it can be extra fun to unwind unplugged! Join us for some good old fashioned fun with our unplugged day camp! Play classic games and use your imagination during this low tech adventure!
In a Galaxy Far Far Away June 5
Train to be a powerful space knight with the masters! Find the magic crystals to make your own laser sword, save the princess and prepare for an adventure that is totally out of this world (and galaxy)! Costumes encouraged.
Mystical Creatures, June 26
Come and delight in this day of strange and magical creatures! Fight a dragon, create a fairy garden and learn about the creatures from local indigenous myths and legends. Tame the weird and wild mythical creatures of your dreams at our Mystical Creatures day camp!
Frequently Asked Questions
Information on specific activities for each theme can be found on the website at https://museum.simcoe.ca/programs/camps
Camp begins at 10:00 am each day, but if they have been signed up for childcare your child can be dropped off at 9:00 am. Please come through the Museum’s Front Doors, as the Group Entrance Doors are locked.
Camp ends at 4:00 pm each day. If your child has been signed up for childcare, and then your child must be picked up by 5:00 pm. There is an additional charge for campers that stay beyond the 5:00 pm deadline ($10 per camper for every additional 15 minutes). Please come through the Museum’s front doors, inform Museum staff who you are picking up and your child will be brought to you at the front desk for pick up.
If your child is not attending camp, please call and leave a message with Museum staff. Alternatively, you may email education@simcoe.ca with the subject line “Day Camp Absenteeism”.
If someone other than the adults on the ActiveNet Authorized Pick Up list is picking up your child from camp, you must sign a Pick-Up Authorization Form stating who will be picking up your child. You can fill this form out when dropping off your child in the morning. If the person picking up the child is not on the Authorized pick up form, THE CHILD WILL NOT BE RELEASED. You can add people to the Authorized Pick Up list on your ActiveNet account the week before your child’s day camp. Otherwise, a paper form must be filled out.
If you need to pick up your child during the day, please let our staff know what time you will be arriving so they can be packed and ready to go. If prior arrangements have not been made, then please talk to our staff and they will contact our Education team to inform them that your child is being picked up early.
If your child becomes sick and cannot participate in day camp, you will be advised to come and pick them up. Until the time that you pick up your child, they will be in the Museum office area with staff present. This area will have adequate equipment to handle all the normal illness and first aid needs of camp.
Parents are responsible for making the Simcoe County Museum aware of any medical concerns for their children. Any medical or special needs are to be specified on the Day Camp Registration Form. If your child is required to take medication, it is expected that they will take the medication on their own at the appropriate time. (Museum staff will not administer medication to any camper.)
The Museum has a strict peanut/nut free policy to ensure the safety of all day campers and Museum visitors. Please send a peanut/nut free lunch with drink and a water bottle. The Museum provides campers with an afternoon snack.
Listed below are items that your child should bring with them every day to camp. Please label your child’s belongings.
❑ Knapsack or bag to carry personal items. We encourage the use of reusable containers and for campers to bring a litter-less lunch.
❑ Water bottle
❑ Jacket (Summer)
❑ Hat for sun protection (Summer)
❑ Sunscreen, and bug spray if required (Summer)
❑ Rain gear for rainy days: raincoat, splash pants, rubber boots (Summer/March Break)
❑ One pair of running shoes
❑ A change of clothes if required
❑ Towel, water clothes, and water shoes if specified by the Simcoe County Museum (Summer)
❑ Regular or emergency medication (the camper must be able to give themselves the medication)
❑ Winter clothing (Winter Solstice/March Break)
Please ensure that your child has sunscreen (that they can apply themselves) and a hat.
Please ensure that your child’s name is written on their belongings. If our staff come across anything that was left behind, and it has a name on it, it will be placed in their basket to get the next day. If there was not a name on it, there is a Lost and Found box. If your child has lost something, please notify the Education department. (Simcoe County Museum is not responsible for any stolen or lost items that may occur at camp.)
In the event of a fire alarm, education staff will gather all children and lead them to the west end of the Museum grounds, in the main parking lot. Museum staff will ensure that all campers are accounted for and will keep all campers in that area until they receive further instructions. Museum staff are aware of the locations of our fire extinguishers.
In the event of extreme weather, Education staff will follow procedures that have been set in place by the County of Simcoe. Education staff are advised of any weather warnings that may occur and are directed by Museum management should extreme weather occur.
